The Focus Course

Keep Moving Forward

In our conversation, Aaron and I talk about how to make progress on your creative and business goals, how to keep moving forward with your creative work even when there are many demands on your time and attention, the importance of capturing ideas, why you have to show up every day, and more.

Highlights, Takeaways, and Quick Wins

  • It’s most important to just get moving. At some point, you have to start walking toward your goal.
  • Progress is more important than perfect.
  • Do as much as you can, with as little as you can, for as long as you can.
  • While creative rituals and routines are important, they’re not the only way. When things aren’t lining up just right, you still have to do the work.
  • You can’t succeed unless you show up and do the work.
  • Pay attention to the way you work, your values, your motivations. And when you have a clarity about where to focus your time and energy, then worry about improving your workflows and becoming more efficient.
  • Saying yes, means saying no to something else.
  • Always be looking for ways to improve and keep moving forward.
