- [0:30] – Focus Club perks
- [3:50] – Where to find your Club info
- [8:05] – My challenge is to listen in to the group and trying to find my place there. I’m longing for people who will “meet up” every day to change their habits. — Morten Jacobsen
- [12:15] – My challenge is how to be most efficient with my time. I resist specific daily schedules because I find I work best in bursts of energy and enthusiasm toward specific things I need to get done, and I let those guide me rather than “forcing” myself to do a certain thing in the moring, another in the afternoon etc. I want to be better about maintaining a schedule while still allowing flexibility to move things around depending on energy level and general bandwidth. — Jennifer Prior
- [20:13] – My challenge is working from home and maintaining physical and emotional energy throughout the day, week, month, etc. I have a hard time balancing work, staying healthy, and being social. When I don’t balance those things well, burnout is almost always the result. How can I implement systems in my life to keep all of these things balanced? — Robert Hardy
- [26:36] – When and how to get an office. Currently my wife and I work from home which while fine for some hours during the day can be frustrating other times. An ant invasion, costly A/C running all day, and more has me considering getting an office, co-working spaces, and/or putting together a list of public places that could be used to work out of. I’ve begun playing with a “fire and maneuver” style of work where I spend the first 2 hours of the day working from home, before, moving to a coffee shop, then a lunch spot with excellent wifi, before moving on to either a clients location or back to my home office. While fire and maneuver works for me, I haven’t heard of anyone else doing this or any ways I could optimize this work pattern to best fit my needs. Curious what other club members do for their work environment. — Steven
- [33:50] – How do you know when you need to “reset your system” and bring things back into focus? — Patrick
- [37:55] – I’ve been reading about grit, resiliency, anti-fragility, as well as Taoism and being present. My experiences in life so far have led me to feel that the path to a fulfilling life is one filled with challenges that I have to push myself to overcome, but it also seems to me that in order to be happy, it’s also important to enjoy the moment rather than constantly be trying to set new goals, or stressing over how to overcome whatever obstacle is in my way. What do you think about balancing those? Can they coexist? Is there a time for one and then the other? What’s the right balance between pushing boundaries and personal limits to grow, and being happy with what you have? — Robert
- [47:40] – Do you have any tips for finding balance with commitments associated with meaningful work and values — family, health, community?
- [50:20] – I’ve spent the last three weeks dealing with my grandma being in hospice, I’ve been spending most of my time visiting her and just being there for the family where I was needed. However this past week I was home trying to get back into the swing of my daily life and failed. Before this I was writing every morning, and sketching daily. But now I can’t seem to find my focus long enough to write more than a paragraph or finish a design. So once your momentum for showing up everyday is broken, what do you do to get back in it? — Veronica
- [53:45] – How do you stay focused and avoid burnout in one, possibly less-inspired area of life, while getting excited and building momentum for a new chapter? — Keri
