A dorky yet brilliant solution to procrastination

If you feel like during your day you’re just spinning your wheels and you’re not getting traction on things…

  1. Tonight before you go to bed, pick out the clothes that you want to wear tomorrow.
  2. Set them out.
  3. Tomorrow, put them on — follow through with your commitment to yourself.

This may seem dorky, but it is literally my “number one productivity tip”.

This can be life-changing because it helps you build your personal integrity.

Personal Integrity is your ability to follow through on the commitments you make to yourself.

Starting small — with a daily outfit — you have made a commitment to do something and then you follow through on that commitment. Do that over and over again, and you will prove to yourself that you are someone who follows through on their commitments.

This will change everything for you when it comes to getting traction and to actually following through on the stuff that you want to do.

What a struggling, broken productivity system looks like

There are 4 primary symptoms of a busted productivity flow, this is the negative cycle:

  1. Busywork: Doing things that don’t matter. Things that do not compound into anything substantial over time. Simply put, a waste of your time.

  2. Reactive work: When you are reacting to the needs of other people and you can’t do what you need and want to do. There is always something else coming your way!

  3. Procrastination: When you don’t easily following through on your own commitments. Things get put off to the last minute, or skipped altogether.

  4. Burnout: When you feel as if you are on a hamster-wheel. You are not motivated, and you can’t see how your current activities are leading toward your goals.
